Adirondack Center for Writing
Adirondack Literary Award
Winner–Poetry

9 June 2008

I just came home from the Blue Mountain Lake, where I won The Adirondack Literary Award for the Best Book of Poetry in 2007.

This one was particularly sweet, because the ceremony was held at Blue Mountain Center, an arts colony where I went to my one and only residency some 12 years ago . . . which led indirectly to the birth of Izaak and those poems. It is a very beautiful old Teddy-Roosevelt-style "camp" (read, luxury mansion: zebra skin rug on grand piano, giant moosehead mounted over fireplace, etc.) on a pristine lake, and since it's 94 here, I really enjoyed swimming in the freezing water for as long as I could make myself stay in.
